Gamo Whisper G2 Air Rifle Review

The Gamo Whisper G2 Air Rifle has been referred to as one of the best air rifle for “quiet” hunting and plinking. This gun was first launched by its manufacturer, Gamo Outdoor USA, at the 2014 Shot Show. It is a 2nd generation air rifle of Gamo’s Whisper line, and it is designed with some of the latest and best Gamo technology called the Turbo Stabilizing System.

This technological breakthrough increases the Whisper G2 air rifle user’s control over the firing cycle’s level of aggression. It essentially causes the spring to come a precise stop, right within the gun’s chamber. This adds more velocity and decreases vibration, which in turn, reduces recoil.

What Makes The Whisper G2 One of the Best Air Rifles in its Class?

You may be wondering what makes the Whisper G2 the best air rifle for “quiet” hunting. Well, its “Whisper” technology (exclusive to Gamo), is what makes its pellet shots (both alloy and lead) virtually undetectable to any pesky vermin that may be lurking in or around the area you are hunting in. It is equipped with an SAT (Smooth Action Trigger) and an SWA (Shock Wave Absorber), as well as an adjustable cheek rest. These features come together to make the this a top-notch air rifle for anyone who is serious about using it to either hunt small game and/or control unwanted vermin.

Both the .177 caliber and the .22 caliber versions of the Gamo Whisper G2 air rifle model come equipped with 4×32 rifle scopes. The general features and specifications of these air gun models more than meet the needs of most individuals who consider themselves avid fans of air and/or pellet guns.

Some of the Best Features of the Gamo Whisper G2 Air Rifle

  •  It is one of the easier air rifles to cock- the baseblock of the Whisper G2’s was reduced by a large amount, and its linkage anchor point was strategically placed exactly where the manufacturer wanted it, in order to make it easier to cock
  •  It is designed with a remarkable scoping option- the Whisper G2 features a separate scope rail on top of its spring tube. It is long with two scope stop holes (vertical) at each end so that the scope stop pin can be put in wherever the gun’s user wants it
  •  It features a well-made stock- the Whisper G2’s black synthetic stock has a pretty wide forearm and its pistol grip is a deep one. Because of this gun’s articulated cocking link, its cocking slot is noticeably short, possibly making it the best air rifle choice for users of smaller stature.
  • Using the Gamo Whisper G2 Air Rifle

The Whisper G2’s safety is located directly in the front of its trigger. You know that the safety is on if its lever is pulled back near the gun’s trigger. You can release its trigger by moving the safety lever forward and away from the gun’s trigger. It’s always best to make sure that the Whisper G2’s safety is in the ON position whenever you handle, carry, load and/or unload your air rifle. You should not press the air gun’s trigger while you are putting the safety in the ON position. This gun is supplied with what is called a 2nd stage adjustable trigger. You can adjust this 2nd stage by rotating the built-in adjustment screw in clockwise or counter-clockwise directions, thus decreasing or increasing the length.

The Gamo Whisper G2 is possibly the best air rifle for shooting either .177 or .22 caliber alloy or lead pellets, depending on the model; however, it’s not made for steel BBs.

It can be loaded by using your hip to support the gun’s stock while you firmly grasp the end of its barrel and pull it down and forward (toward your person) until it finally catches. You then place an alloy or lead pellet, (whilst always making sure that the skirt end is toward your person) in the barrel’s opening. Then, you pull back the barrel until it is in its original position again and locks itself in to place. Once the Whisper G2 has been properly loaded, it’s ready to be fired.

The Gamo Whisper G2 comes with its scope pre-mounted and its bore pre-sighted. You can sight in the air rifle by removing its caps and covering up both the windage and the elevation adjustment dials. You can also adjust the windage and/or the elevation by turning their adjustment screws.
